Opportunity to visit the USS GEORGE HW BUSH – the US Navy aircraft carrier
An opportunity has arisen for a group of Coachmakers to visit the USS GEORGE HW BUSH when she visits Portsmouth later this month.
Timing: Depart Portsmouth Historic Dockyard 1000 hrs
Return: tbc but likely to be 1300 hrs
Dress code: smart casual, meaning slacks/trousers and “polo-type” shirt at a minimum with a windproof jacket. As per previous ship visits ladies are discouraged from wearing skirts and/or any sort of heeled shoes due to the challenges of the shipboard environment.
This visit is open to Freemen and Liverymen and their partners but the number is limited to 15 in total and bookings will be on a first come first served basis; there is no charge for this event.
Coachmakers will join the ship by boat transfer departing from the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The boat pier is accessed via the pedestrian gate on Main Road just off the Hard near HMS Warrior, and within a 5 minute walk of Portsmouth Harbour railway station or a 5 minute walk from the multi-story car park on Queens Road that serves the Historic Dockyard. More detail will follow nearer the date
Lunch arrangements will also be promulgated nearer the time but there are numerous watering holes in Old Portmouth and the Gunwharf Quay and the Clerk does have some knowledge of the area.
To book yourself a place(s) please e-mail the Clerk at firstname.lastname@example.org with name and e-mail address to which electronic invitations can be sent by the US Navy by no later than 1700 hrs on Tuesday the 11th of July 2017
Only confirmed availability will be accepted and in fairness to others please do not reserve a place if you are not sure that you can attend. Finally, to reduce e-mail traffic please do not respond unless you wish to book a place.
There is no charge for this event. To book email the clerk: email@example.com
