The United Guilds’ Service 2020

27th March @ 11:15 am3:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 1943 THE UGS THIS YEAR HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

We apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience this may cause but you will understand that no alternative course was open to us at this time.

At a meeting of the Masters and Prime Wardens of the Twelve Great Companies, held at Goldsmiths’ Hall on the 1st of February 1943, it was decided to hold a service in St Paul’s Cathedral for the Livery Companies and Guilds of the City of London. The primary purpose was to help ‘lift the spirits’ of the City following the blitz during the Second World War. As far as records show, this was the first occasion on which all the Livery Companies and Guilds of the City combined to hold a religious service, since when it has become an annual event.

This year the ticket allocation for the event is being managed differently to reduce the number of tickets allocated to Companies that go unused.

Therefore if you wish to join the Master, Wardens and the Clerk to sit in the Coachmakers’ reserved seating please contact the Clerk as soon as possible as these seats are limited in number. Unreserved seating is also available and tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Lunch will be available in Tallow Chandlers’ Hall on completion for a modest charge of £60 including VAT.

If you wish to take part in this wonderful occasion contact the Clerk at clerk@coachmakers.co.uk or call him on 0705 089841.
